Held in the Elk City Historic District of Charleston’s West Side, OktoberWest is all about the craft brews, local foods, and live tunes! Typically held in early October, this urban street fair offers something for everyone: play zones for the kids, a food truck court, some of the best live music in town, and a large selection of craft beers for those 21+.
Ice Cream and the Arts in Elk City
Previously known as the Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social, Ice Cream and the Arts in Elk City is Charleston Main Streets – West Side’s FestivAll event produced in partnership with over 20 West Side organizations and businesses. Ice Cream and the Arts offers attendees the chance to participate in public art, ice cream floats and sundaes, face painting, kid zones, and showcases local performing arts groups.
West Side Mingles
This is our take on a business after hours. Our Mingles offer the opportunity to meet your neighbors, and network professionally, in a casual and welcoming environment. Each Mingle offers live music, delicious finger foods, and refreshments, all free of charge.
Our annual West Side Tree Lighting offers a chance for people of all creeds and religions the opportunity to come together in ringing in the holiday season. Held in the green space beside Fountain Hobby Center, we partner with local businesses to produce a night full of caroling, hot chocolate, and all around festivity.
Small Business Saturday
As an initiative to get residents to shop locally around the holiday season, American Express founded Small Business Saturday in 2010. Every year for Small Business Saturday, which is the Saturday after Black Friday, we run social media campaigns promoting our businesses’ inventories, special deals, and dining options. What’s a better way to spend an entire day exploring our West Side?
Foam at the Dome
Foam at the Dome is Charleston Main Streets’ dual-district fundraiser. Held in early May at Laidley Field on Charleston’s East End, over 2,500 attendees enjoy live music from local bands, delicious food from Charleston eateries, and over 250 beers from 70+ breweries.
With around 500 volunteers working annually to help revitalize our West Side and East End communities, this is our way of recognizing those community members that go above and beyond. Alternating between End End and West Side venues, the 2017 Urbanite Awards will be held on Charleston’s West Side in mid-November.
